The Helio Tree Nursery plants native evergreen and deciduous tree seedlings in containers and then grows them into small trees for subsequent sale. Our nursery sells to individuals and organizations interested in beautifying their properties, reducing energy costs, and/or improving the environment.

Our tree and shrub stock includes birch, maple, oak, ash, elm, service berry, elderberry, pine, hemlock, spruce and fir

Prices range from $6 to $24 depending on the size of the pot and the height of the tree
Tree heights range from 12" - 60" depending on their age and species (most are between 1 and 4 years old)
Availability varies depending on month (Availability is highest in early June)

How we grow our trees

Native trees are purchased as bare root seedlings (no containers) from tree seedling nurseries.
They are then planted in small pots (approximately 3/4 gallon) in primarily a bark mulch and peat moss potting soil.
In the second year they are transplanted into pots two to three gallons in size with a rich organic potting mixture.
Often in the third or fourth year they are transplanted again in four to five gallon pots.
Throughout this time they were fertilized organically
A timed sprinkler system is used to keep the plants well watered on a daily basis
Mulching and weeding is an ongoing process
